Hi, I'M Kel The editor of Real Rider Magazine. I was born & raised in Lapeer, MI, on a very large farm that my family owned for about one hundred years. Yes, I was a good old Farm Girl. I graduated (voted most likely to date bad boys) & went on to college where I got my B.A. in Business Management & my minor in Advertising From the University of Michigan, Go Blue!! I have worked for many Corporations as a "Trouble Shooter". Than I worked as a Manager/Top Sales Associate for a Furrier in Bloomfield Hills. Then I just got burnt out & wanted to do something that I enjoyed.

One day while riding with friends the topic came up that there were not any Magazines for the Michigan Rider, letting us know of Runs, Bike Nights, & Motorcycle business etc. That gave me the idea to start my own magazine. So I created Real Rider Magazine. I'm in my 5th year now & loving it. Life is good! I shed my fur for leather & proud of it. We began publishing Real Rider Magazine in November of 2003 with a 40-page magazine and a circulation of 10,000.

Real Rider Magazine is a free monthly publication and can be picked up at Bike Shops, Bars, and many other ‘Biker Friendly’ businesses across Michigan.  Our current circulation is 30,000 and our page count varies according to the season.

Our focus is on local events and fellow Riders.  Many of the national publications feature bikes that are not ridden and rallies that are to far away to travel too.  We strive to make each issue of Real Rider Magazine an interesting and enjoyable reading experience by featuring everyday people and their bikes at the events that they attend.

We have a convenient What’s Happenin” page, a “Pull out calendar”, a “Bike Nights” page & directory of “Biker Friendly Businesses” in each issue that our readers depend on to plan their activities.  The What’s Happenin” page and “Pull out calendar” eliminates the hunt for illusive flyers and increases the range that the information about events travels.

It has changed the way that Riders and Event Planners across the State calendar their activities.  Now, instead of just advertising their events across a 10-20 mile radius, the news travels hundreds of miles to thousands of riders for FREE! The Directory for “Biker Friendly Businesses" is a convenient way for riders who are away from home to locate businesses that will welcome them and truly want their business.

It is a great way to meet new people as well as a helpful guide to local shops in the event of a break down while traveling. Along with the Pull out calendar” and the “Biker Friendly Directory”, each month there are a number of regular features in Real Rider Magazine including: “Babe of the month”, “Grinning down the road”, “The Wall” and “Biker Scopes” along with tid bits ranging from just for fun to rider tech tips.

Our clients are enjoying a great return for their advertising dollars and I urge you to contact any of them regarding the effectiveness of their advertising in Real Rider Magazine. Our rates are very competitive and we target the motorcyclists no matter what brand of bike they ride.

I love all my new Friends & Family. “The State of The Riding Union" as I call it. Michigan Bikers unite!!! I love to meet Brother & Sisters that love to ride & build & live life hard & fast!!  Every one that shares the love for Motorcycles, Tattoos, warped people, sick rides and Riders that share the passion for the life style & the breeze on their knees. I am always looking for great stories & bike features & righteous ladies for our cover shots.

Real Rider Magazine is entirely supported by our Advertisers, whom we greatly appreciate. They are the reason this Magazine is and will always be a free publication. It would be great, as you pick up your copy this month, let the advertisers know that you saw their ad and you appreciate the support they give to the riding community by advertising in Real Rider Magazine.

We are determined to continue to work hard to keep this publication #1 in Michigan. If you know of a business that should be in our directory, by all means send it to us. Also, if you have a business and wish to advertise in The Real Rider Magazine just email us or go to the advertising link.

If you would like to come along for the ride, just give us a call. There is always an opportunity for motivated individuals for sales representative opportunities.

Sincerely

Kelly Thomas/Editor
